General Opinion: Charlie Heat takes what was, in my opinion, the worst Kanye West song to date and turned it into something significantly better with a beat that shits all over Metro Boomin's original take. Only thing I'd wish would be that the original literally just never existed. The lyrics could use some polishing but as a whole, they work well with the track. Personally, I separate the album at Wolves and would rank this among the bonus tracks only, but for what it is I'd say it's one of the better closers.
Especially given how shitty the original beat is, the new intro is such a beautifully lit moment. It goes off at parties, it sounds amazing in the car, it never fails to pump me up. That drop is one of the most hype moments of the entire year musically imo. It's the only version that really needs to exist tbh. actually, from here on out I'm just going to go off of the CHV. The initial drop of the Charlie Heat Version. I do really like the flow especially as it fits into the new beat, but the lyrics are beyond peripheral for me. Lmao, well as you might be able to guess I don't have many favorites in that area here. It definitely deserves some kind of "most improved" award for songs on Ye albums lol. What it does do is distract the listener enough that they find themselves rapping the lyrics along with no cringes - something not even remotely possible on the original. The new version basically eliminates everything wrong with the original besides of course the lyrics. Luckily, the Charlie Heat Version exists. They truly are some of the worst lyrics ever on a Kanye album.
The beat is so weak especially for the fact that it's fucking Metro Boomin, and it only makes the terrible lyrics stand out even more. I actually went back and relistened to the OG while writing this post, and god damn. There was no one moment in the entire rollout that I was more sure that what would eventually be TLOP would be a catastrophic disaster based on Ye's recent output.
